System Configuration Utility - Using MS Config
The Windows Vista System Configuration Utility, also known as Msconfig, allows you to have even more control over your Windows Vista computer. For instance, it allows you to regulate what services to start when your computer does, or which operating system to boot and how to boot it. It also allows you to troubleshoot startup problems.
Because of the complexity of this utility, I feel that Microsoft's guide related to it is more than adequate in describing the functions and purposes of the System Configuration Utility. All text about the Tabs within the System Configuration Utility is the property of Microsoft, I have added all the screenshots myself to enhance the tutorial and help further you along in understanding what this utility does.
To Get To The System Configuration Utility
Click on the Windows Vista Start Button. This is the button on the far left side of the task bar, it looks like this:

Now in the search box, type in "system configuration", or "msconfig", and then click enter.

If a User Account Control dialog box pops up asking for your permission, click continue.
The System Configuration Utility should now open up.
